Questions to Ask a Wedding Venue

September 29, 2018 | Posted in Weddings

Before you buy the dress, choose the flowers, order the cake, or send out the invites for your upcoming wedding, you must first choose the perfect location. The wedding venue or facility you choose is the very foundation of your wedding and reception. You want to opt for some place that’s accommodating in every way from its aesthetic appeal and location to its seating capacity and wedding services. Yet with so many variables to planning the perfect wedding, how do you know if a particular venue is best suited for your big day? Here are some questions to ask a wedding venue.

Calendar

Are You Available on My Chosen Date?
The first order of business is availability. While you may have some wiggle room with your chosen date, you need to know in advance if a wedding venue can accommodate your needs. If they are available, ask which rooms can be used for your big day.

How Many People Can You Accommodate?
The next question should be about spacing. You don’t want to reserve a room that seats 75 people with a guest list of 150. So, ask in advance how many people the wedding venue’s rooms can accommodate for both the ceremony and reception.

How Much Will it Cost? And What’s Included?
If you like the way the wedding venue looks and they have rooms available on your chosen date that comfortably seats enough guests, the next topic is cost. Find out in advance how much is required for a deposit, contractual obligations, and total costs for all the services you need.

Is There a Contingency Plan for Outdoor Weddings?
If there’s one thing you can’t control about your wedding it’s the weather. Ask the wedding venue if there is a contingency plan for outdoor weddings in bad weather. This should include an indoor space you can use. All of our venues have contingency spaces so you won’t have to worry.

Do You Have In-House Services & Vendors?
When planning your wedding you’ll need to hire services and vendors that include photographers, caterers, florists, and bakers. Some wedding venues have vendors you are required to work with while other venues have a great network they can refer you to. Our wedding venues allow you to choose whomever you would like to work with as long as they are properly insured professionals, and we offer a great list of wedding vendors we have personally worked with and highly recommend.

Will I Have Flexibility with Decor?
Your wedding is supposed to be your vision. You want to find a wedding venue that will allow you to create the wedding of your dreams or bring in a wedding planner to decorate for you. This should include linen options, silverware and china, lighting, floral arrangements, and more. You should also find out if you’re allowed to bring decor items of your own to incorporate into the ceremony and reception.

You want your wedding day to be perfect and that all starts with finding the perfect venue to host it. When viewing wedding venues be sure to have these questions and a list of your own prepared to ask. As an added bonus, you can also ask to see pictures to get an idea of what the venue and staff are capable of doing to make your day special.
