Central New Jersey College Themed Weddings

August 13, 2014 | Posted in Catering, Events, Weddings

As back-to-school season rapidly approaches, we want to share a few of our favorite college sweetheart weddings. This adorable Rutgers couple said their vows at the Sterling Ballroom at the DoubleTree in Tinton Falls, NJ. They chose Scarlet Knights colors, red, white, and black, which they incorporated into every last detail of their wedding day.

For their first look photos, they chose to pose by the outdoor ceremony pergola. The bright white with pops of red give the wedding a clean but fun look. The bride and her bridesmaids carried red and white rose bouquets with gem and pearl accents. The bride and groom even coordinated their red shoes!

For the reception décor, they chose white linens with red napkins and red ambiance lighting. Each place setting was anchored by a silver charger plate and their wedding favors, which were customized Rutgers themed golf towels. Instead of a traditional multi-tiered wedding cake, the couple chose to serve vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with red and black frosting. The custom-built cupcake display was topped with a small wedding cake for the cake cutting. They even added cute little Rutgers details to the head table like a Scarlet Knight mug and a Christmas ornament.

After their first dance, the couple was joined by a very special guest, the Scarlet Knight himself!

If Scarlet Knight red isn’t your color, you’ll enjoy Penn State blue! Kelsea and Ryan held their picture perfect Penn State University wedding at the Versailles Ballroom at the Ramada in Toms River, NJ. They chose PSU blue and white as their colors. They also featured the Nittany lion in some of their decorations.

The ceremony for over 200 guests was held in part of the Versailles Ballroom facing the glass French doors and framed perfectly under the palatial crystal chandeliers and blue ambiance lighting. Cascading floral arrangements and airy white tulle lined the aisle. The custom aisle runner was bordered by blue rose petals and featured the couple’s logo: a Nittany lion paw print with their monogram and wedding date. The cocktail hour featured a Nittany lion ice sculpture.

The elegant white chair linens, accented with white chair wraps and silver jewels, were the perfect backdrop to showcase the couple’s engagement announcement and PSU pride. The couple chose to have custom white ostrich feather and jewel centerpieces brought in to compliment the silver charger plate and blue napkin place settings. The head table featured PSU colors and a light-up stand for their champagne toast glasses. Even the little figurines are holding banners, which read “I Heart PSU.”

A custom spotlight on the dance floor showed off the couple’s logo with the DJ’s lighting and the ambiance lighting around the room. They had an adorable blue and white wedding cake, complete with paw prints and a cake topper of the couple sitting together atop the Nittany Lion statue. Instead of a traditional bouquet, the bride opted for a blue and white flower jeweled bouquet, which matched the bridesmaids’ blue and white dresses. The bride and groom really made a splash with their blue and white sunglasses.

Last but not least, we want to highlight a gorgeous wedding of two Syracuse lovebirds at the Crystal Ballroom at the Radisson in Freehold, NJ. Instead of an over-the-top Syracuse themed wedding, they chose to use blue and white as an understated way of paying homage to their alma mater.

How perfect is the snow and the dark blue night sky? Simply gorgeous.

Syracuse University’s colors are traditionally orange, blue, and white, so the couple found a way to include a little bit of orange into their décor. The custom cake topper features a bride and groom as orange mascot characters with a little monogrammed heart. Ornate blue piped icing completes the look of the wedding cake.
